Rock River Ranches was started by the four Moore brothers in 2010. Today is it is owned and operated by Rex & Julie Moore and their two sons. We supply Colorado’s finest local bison to local Colorado restaurants and now direct to the consumer. We have our own Bison herd in Wray, CO and our cold storage warehouse in Commerce City, CO. Most of our bison are naturally raised in Colorado and a few are from the surrounding states. They are harvested in small groups of 10-14 bison every 2 to 4 weeks so fresh chilled bison is always available.
Our naturally raised buffalo products are available at these fine front range restaurants – check out our listing.
American Bison connoisseurs can now buy the finest restaurant quality bison meats direct from us. We will have an online store soon. For now, please use this order form for our great products.
Thank you for supporting small family owned and operated agriculture. Know where your food comes from.
In 2016 Rex bought his first Bison herd in Cody, WY and moved the herd to the Kansas/Colorado border. Today they are cared for in Wray, CO and Kansas by several local ranching families. The herd has grown from 30 head to over 125 head and will continue growing so Rock River Ranches can supply local restaurants and home consumers all over the US. Our Bison are raised naturally on grass without antibiotics or growth promotants for about 18 months. Then those bison selected for meat production are finished on hay and grain (corn & distiller’s grains for protein). They are finished in small groups of 25 in large paddocks with extra space for exercise. Loose hay is always available. At Rock River Ranches we harvest our bison in small groups of 10-14 bison locally in Colorado.
The more humanely and better the bison are handled and treated, the better the meat will be. Our goal is to be Colorado’s finest local bison producer.
